Thank you for taking time from your busy schedule and visiting my Etsy Store. It’s taken me hours, days, months, and even years of hard work to come up with some of the designs and idea’s I have posted on here. Below is a short bio about myself and how I got to eventually opening a store of my own.
So… I was born and raised in a small beach town called Mombasa off the coast of Kenya, Eastern Africa. There I learnt to walk, talk, and basically be who I am today (I shall spare you all the boring details as most of what happened during my childhood had very little bearing on our current topic). One thing from my childhood that did have some bearing though, was my passion for design. I’d regularly design all my dad’s advertising material for his used-car business in the late 90’s and early 2000’s.
Fast forward to the mid 2000’s, I moved to the United Kingdom to pursue my higher education and ended up graduating with a Bachelors in Mathematics from King’s College London and subsequently a Postgraduate in Education from Birmingham City University. Though I graduated with the highest of honors (Yes, I am bragging – It was hard work), I would painfully come to the realization, as I joined the work force and started teaching high schoolers, I lacked passion for the career path I had taken on. High schoolers can be a terribly difficult bunch (Think teenagers – lots of them!).
I would wake up each morning and somehow convince myself that I would eventually find this “love” for teaching that seemed to forever elude ONLY myself (All my fellow teachers would show up with huge smiles on their faces every morning that I could not understand for the life of me). Five years of going through this every day, I finally accepted that, try as I may, teaching made me absolutely miserable!
One fine bright Monday morning, I gathered the courage, handed in my resignation, bought myself a professional camera – got my first project a few weeks later (granted, a photo session for a close-friend that may in fact have been out of pity for my dire state). One thing led to another (That’s a long story I plan to share another day), and here I am, three years on, having found my very true passion. Today, I literally jump out of bed every morning, at 6.00 am, with energy I never thought I had and a grin that would out do any teachers.
My love has gone into each and every design, and I truly hope you’ll enjoy and appreciate what I’ve created.
